We've made some changes to the status feature. First of all, all users now have the same access to the status feature. There is no longer a default status message. Your status will be set to whatever it was when you logged out. It is also now always displayed in your user profile, even if logged out. Finally, you can view the most recent statuses for a user from their profile.

As a further update, there's now a page where you can view the recent status history. Find it under the other stuff link on the main menu.
